Well, while I haven’t posted here, and I probably really ought to, I have continued going to the gym. Since the beginning of February, I have been seeing a personal trainer twice a week (most weeks). This week, I’m dropping down to once a week. This scares me a lot truthfully. I wish I could afford multiple times per week, but I will take what I can get for now. :)
So (until this week), I have had 30 minute strength sessions twice a week with a trainer. I had my once a week session today and I’m now on my own for a second session this week. Much of the time, I have been ready to quit during an exercise, but with that push, I would finish.
Cardio has not been going all too well. I kind of hate it. I do like using the cinema at the gym (movie theatre with cardio equipment rather than seats…it’s dark and cool), so I’ll have to do more of that. Maybe, it’s time to try out a group class? (I’m scared chicken though.)
Diet has been going well. My trainer set a range of 1600-1800 daily calories for me (without eating my workout calories) and I’ve been pretty good about hitting that range. If anything, I’ve been low many more times than over. I have started using a whey protein supplement 2-3 times a day (morning, before bed and after workouts) that I typically blend with frozen fruit or with almond milk. The most recent tweaks have been to add more water throughout the day and 8oz of whole, lean protein per day (aka in addition to the supplement).
I’m officially down 13 pounds since mid-February, but, I have a long way to go.

It’s hard to believe that it is coming up on a year since I’ve posted publically here.
I totally fell off the C25K wagon toward the end of week 3 when I got sick and that was followed by an injury. That sucks, yes. Worse is that I didn’t just get back to it.
I had continued to go to Curves (I had joined in February of 2011), although summer was difficult to get there due to a combination of things (including their limited hours, that I had a toddler and a preschooler living with us for nearly a month). I went back full on once school started back up in August.
For probably the first 2 months, I had limited results. I am not surprised. I never expected profound results from repeated the same limited exercises in the same limiting manner time after time. Sure, every week, you change directions in the circuit and every few weeks, they moved the machine around to change up the order. However, that said, my biggest reason for joining? Socializing. Being new to the state (never mind just the “area”) I didn’t know anyone. Sometimes I went to the coffee shop to get a coffee just so I could have some idle chit chat with the barista for a moment. Pathetic, isn’t it? (Don’t answer that, I already know it is.)
Anyhow, as the fall dragged on and my shoulder began to ache more, I questioned the usefulness of continuing there.
I even got a ‘strained rotator cuff’ diagnosis with a regimen to follow. After a while, it was feeling better, but continues to flare up. The inflammation is pretty bad and that’s when it gets painful. I had been trying to avoid the cortisone/steroids, but that is looking less and less like an option. Anyway…
Finally, after chatting with few people about various fitness facilities in the area, I grabbed a free pass and tried out Gold’s Gym. I will admit that I was (still am, actually) quite intimidated by the whole thing. In fact, the first day I went, I sat in my car for almost 20 minutes in the parking lot shaking because I was so nervous about going in. At any rate, I did go in (duh). In the end I joined and signed up for personal training sessions as well.
In the mean time, since I had overlap, I continued going to Curves as my cardio days. After being at Gold’s a few times, Curves really wasn’t cutting it. It felt small and claustrophobic. I still like that you’re in and out in pretty much 40 minutes and the convenience of it’s location was prime for me. However, it is expensive and limiting. Anyway, my days are over there. I’ll miss the ladies I chatted with and the owner of that location is super sweet and helpful, but, yeah.
So, now I’ve been going to Gold’s for a few weeks and I’ve had a few training sessions. After the first few, I felt like I couldn’t walk or move without some kind of intense ‘ohmygod I worked out’ pain. Soreness doesn’t come close to describing it. I mostly look forward to each session (or at the very least, I look forward to the end of each session). I’ll be signing ~P~ up for swim lessons there soon.
Now is the time to crack down on the diet. I have been doing super great for the last several months about keeping my calorie total within my goal range.
Along with the diet crackdown comes the cardio crackdown. While I have been performing cardio several times a week, I haven’t been super serious or focused with it. I need some results dammit.
Quite a few friends have started C25K and are quite far along. I think I am going to make that attempt again.
Well. That was quite the long winded way to say: I’m Back!

W1D2 is done. I had a harder time with it today and needed my inhaler once in about the middle, but I finished.
Today, I did this in the early evening. I did day one mid-morning which may be a better time for me. Or, it could be from the horrendous sinus headache yesterday and this morning (along with the gunky drainage) that made today more difficult. I finished and that makes me feel great.

Started a Couch to 5K program. I don’t know how successful (or not) I will be, but I am going for it. It will depend on the cooperation of my foot more than anything else.
I have been going to Curves since mid-February. The first 2-3 weeks I went 2-3 times in the week. Since then I’ve been going 3-5 times per week (with the exception of the girls spring break when I only went once, but did do other things). Whatever your opinion of the place, I love it. It’s a decent workout, but it is giving me the social thing that I really need since moving here.
So, today, I completes the first workout. W1D1 is done!
