I’m back. Again.
I admit that I haven’t been as committed to updating this site as I really need to be. R suggested that I try to make it be a weekly update. I think that is a good idea.
R and I started the South Beach Diet together a couple of months ago. I admit that I have been kind of slacking lately — mainly in the way of eating enough fresh veggies and instead eating too much processed junk. A few ladies in the Moms group I’m a member of had started a diet group, so I muscled my way in. And, since we have weekly weigh-ins, I figure that is a good time to reflect here on how the week went and my plans for the upcoming week.
That said, I’ll be updating my sidebar with the current stats, including some measurements (which is freaking me out…a lot!). I need to admit, also, that I missed my weigh in this week due to my little P being sick. Turns out it is strep throat (which I fear I am the next one down with it). She started with a high fever Tuesday morning and her fever didn’t break until this morning (on the way to the pediatrician’s office). Anyhow, she is starting to feel better, but I still missed my weigh in and am starting my decline into feeling like crap.
The first week in “The Club” which had been dubbed “The Fit Moms Club” by the Ringleader, went really well despite my idiotness in starting two days before Halloween. I also admit, that I did partake in some of the “treats,” but not in the gorge myself way that I had in the past. Plus, I made sure everyone ate dinner of some sort before being confronted.
I drank my water, some days even more than the 8 glass goal. I exercised every day that first week and ate precisely how I should. Did I mention our lovely Ringleader is making us journal everything? Yes. She is. And, I hate it. However, I find that it is useful to be able to to look back at things. She at least picked out pretty little journals that you wouldn’t peg for a diet journal. Yay, Ringleader!
Week 2 I did just as well. I added what medications I took each day to the list of what I journaled. However, my headaches were starting. I had my period and got bloated. Yet, I still lost 2 pounds.
Week 3 did not go nearly as well. I got in my water. Journaled my meds. Mostly wrote down what I ate. I was lazy about it. And the fact that I would have much rather taken a nap than eat anything did not help at all. One thing I noticed though, is that I started drinking a lot of beverages like Crystal Light. A lot of them. (In addition to the water.) I am feeling quite bloated today and yesterday and I honestly think it has a lot to do with all the nutrasweet I’m taking in from the drinks. For some reason, Splenda doesn’t seem to do that to me. Then again, I doubt I was taking in as much of the S as I was the NS.
P got strep throat, and I wasn’t able to weigh-in, so I don’t know how everything was for Week 3. My own scaled shows a loss, but I’ve switched to Ringleader’s scale (as it is the “official weigh in” scale) for the stats. I did not exercise as much for this week either.
I am now 4 days into Week 4 and things are continuing to go down hill. I have avoided exercising due to the insane headache and sinus pain I’ve been feeling. I have done ab work (both Ab Ripper 200 and a core routine from Muscle & Fitness Hers) this week, but nothing else serious and heavy lest I puke. Or pass out. My food has been not great. I’m getting in the fresh fruit and veggies and being certain to include protein with every meal and snack. I think I might not be getting enough overall, but I am so not hungry. I feel like crap. I have an appointment with my doctor in the morning. Hopefully, I won’t have strep, but we’ll see.
I should be posting my next update after my next weigh-in which should be either Monday or Tuesday. You know, before the free-for-all-feating day on Thursday which will completely change my approach to the day. After all, why ruin everything you’ve done OR not take the opportunity to continue to improve?
